Welcome to

Muhsen Delamore's hangout.

Hoping to land that dream job of a Unreal Game Developer (or similar) in my dream game studio. Checkout my latest Unreal projects below.

Unreal Engine Projects

AURORA

I'm very proud of this! Click on image above to be directed to the Aurora Demo page.
---

I had just added new features and improvements to this project (as of 9 Sept 2023). Identified as Version 1.10, this will be my final update. The focus of this project was to showcase my level of expertise on the Unreal Engine 5.0 with C++ and Blueprint. It took me about 6 months worth of work-days total to complete it.

For Windows users, be sure to play the game before watching the video. 😄

I really want to complete this!

BASS EFFECT Supernova

Work-In-Progress. Already started this project while learning more stuff about Unreal Engine. It will be based on Mass Effect Andromeda. This will be my first attempt at making a shooter in an open-world.

Click on image above to be directed to the dedicated page. It contains a Sneak-Peek video of the features I developed so far.

I have intended to develop another 2 major projects. "Time" will only tell when I will get down to start them. 😄

Wholly Zealous Dame

A homage to Horizon Zero Dawn. The player character has archery abilities as her main combat. The demo will take place in an open-world mountainous landscape filled with animal-like enemies which have removable armor. The main focus is sculpting the behavior of the enemies with the question - Can I telegraph my attacks so enemies can avoid it?

This will be an open-world demo with level-streaming.

S.H.O.D.A.N. version 87.02

My intention is to re-create the 1st level from System Shock 2, with a few abilities from the Psionic class, and some game mechanic ideas of my own. It will be a first-person shooter RPG in a dungeon-like level. System Shock 2 is one my most favorite games of all time.

FUN FACT: I actually attempted this as my final Level Design module project a decade ago. I was a newbie with the Unreal Editor back then.

Unreal Engine 5.0 Experimentation

A few side experiments I did while looking for a job.

Control Rig

The T-Rex model and its 4 animation was downloaded for free from SketchFab. I used this model to learn about setting up a Control Rig for a biped that has 2 IK joints at its legs. And then I used this Control Rig to animate the Jump, Falling (not shown in the video) and Land sequences.

I also did a basic character setup for the T-Rex which you can see is able to run, roar and do a tail-whip attack.

Backward Solve Animation

I demonstrated the ability to edit original animation (fresh from a 3D software like Blender or Maya) with a Control Rig and made animation fixes in Unreal Editor on the go. This is possible to do with the existence of Backward Solves in the Control Rig.

The video shows that the T-Rex's left hand is weirdly oriented in the default Run animation that comes with the T-rex package, and how I fixed that. It was initially clipping into the body but I already made a fix for that. :p

Lyra with Launcher Weapons and Destructible Environment

Tweaked the Lyra game to spawn a player without a weapon equipped. Created 2 new weapons from existing blueprints - Rocket Launcher and Grenade Launcher. The ammo is simply the default grenade in the game.

Also demonstrated environmental destruction with trailing Niagara effects.

Python

A few super simple personal projects that I made from re-learning Python.

Apart from the basics (including lists, dictionaries and their comprehensions), I have also touched on APIs, web-scraping, decorators and more. Though, the knowledge of those has little relevance to game development as of now. So I will only be showcasing my basics skills on Python. My end goal is to eventually use it to develop tools or automation in Unreal Engine.

Snake Game

A game using Turtle library. Demonstrates the use of class inheritance.

Turtle Crossing

Another simple project using the Turtle library. Collision detection using coordinates.

Pong

The classic game of Pong.
The collision detection between the paddle and the ball is done by using simple coordinates.

DigiPen Institute Nostalgia

Spotlights for a few of my best DigiPen projects from way back while I was pursuing my Bachelor's in Game Design. I greatly missed the satisfaction of completing projects when I'm involved in the creation process.

*Note that I have officially changed my surname in 2016. The names you would see is my old name.

Iris

A 2D platformer, with archery mechanic and wonderful cinematic story.

This game was developed by a team of 4 Digipen students, including myself, with the use of the game editor Unity, and other tools to help with animation and analytics. Music was provided by our esteemed lecturer who was also an accomplished audio engineer.

The coolest thing we've done in this project was the cinematics that conveyed the story of twin siblings and the struggle to save each other.

It won the Excellent Student Award at IGF China 2014.

Omega Chronicles: Coming of Cimmerian

A 90-page table-top RPG rulebook I created from scratch. It took me about 3 months to complete. It could be an RPG 3rd-person game on its own with different classes to choose from and players can create their own avatar, though it lacks details about the technical implementation.

The Witcher - Visenna's Legacy DLC

The Witcher had fascinated me at that point of time. I decided to choose this game as part of the game design assignment. I created a design document constructing the general paths for a DLC to The Witcher game.

Level Design

Escape the Spaceship

As I had mentioned earlier, this was a Unreal project I made in 2014. Back then the editor was called Unreal Engine 3.
It was my meek attempt at re-creating the sequence of events at the beginning of the classic game System Shock 2.

More About Myself

I graduated from DigiPen with a degree in Game Design back in 2014. My first job in the gaming industry was as a Unity Developer for a company that makes mobile games. More interested in eventually landing a Game Designer role, I switched to testing games and had thought at that time to slowly step up from there.

Well, almost a decade later and that did not happened. So I'm back at developing games instead. This time, I set my ambition to work in a AAA game studio that makes awesome games.

I am pretty much a sci-fi, space-science type of guy, more than anything else, be it in games, movies, books and music. I play PC and Playstation games, from many types of genres, as long as they are actually good. My collection of games are mostly single-player experiences. Yes, I spent more than half of my life as a PC gamer until I got myself a PS4 Pro in 2017. My perception of console gaming changed since.

Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice (PS4)

I do not like souls-like games. The first 50 hours playing, I kept asking "Why is this game of the year?". After 100 hours though, with 2++ playthroughs, I achieved Platinum for it, with weighted breath "Okay I think I get it now."
